Indonesian telecommunication firm gets financing assistance from China counterpart

JAKARTA, April 18 (Xinhua) — Indonesia publicly-listed company PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) obtained a 100 million U.S. dollars financial assistance from Huawei, a Chinese telecommunication company, a Telkom official said.

The financing assistance agreement has been signed, Bisnis Indonesia daily Saturday quoted Telkom’s Financial Director SudiroAsno as saying.

It would be the initial disbursement of Huawei’s total financing assistance commitment for Telkom that worth one billion U.S. dollars, he said.

He said the financing assistance would be used to finance the development of Telkom’s Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and broadband businesses.

Telkom is also seeking financial assistance from Japanese companies to develop its telecommunication business.
